Can I return to Target without a receipt?
Usually yes, if you paid by card or used your Target Circle account — they can look it up. Bring the payment card. Otherwise you may get a merchandise return card at the lowest recent price.

Return window overview
Most unopened items: 90 days. Target RedCard purchases get an extra 30 days (120 total). Target-owned brands can often be returned up to a year. Electronics and Apple products have shorter windows (usually 30 and 15 days).
Receipt rules
- No receipt? Target can usually look up the purchase with the card you paid with, your Target Circle account, or the order barcode in the app.
- Without any proof of purchase, you may get a merchandise return card at the item's lowest recent price — or be declined.
- Gift receipts get you a refund to a gift card.
Label rules and drop-off options
- Online orders can be returned in any store — usually the fastest refund.
- Mail-in returns generate a prepaid label from your Target account; print it or use a label-free option if offered.

Common denial reasons
- Past the return window for that category
- No proof of purchase and no traceable payment method
- Opened electronics, music, movies, or software (exchange-only for the same title)
- Return activity flagged by Target's third-party verification system
Refund delayed playbook
- In-store refunds to credit cards usually post within 1–3 business days — check with your bank first.
- For mail-in returns, track the package; the clock starts when Target receives it.
- Bring your return receipt or email confirmation when you follow up with Guest Services.
